The Dahlberg Family:
Where do you start when it comes to Della Ann, Andy and rest of the Dahlberg family? Wow that’s a tough question. Let’s start with the obvious the family lives in Kansas and has been hard hit by the latest rounds of ice storms that have caused so may power outages and have left many people stranded and parked at home until the ice melts. 12 year old Andy is an inspiration too many people especially his family and friends. Andy was born with spina bifida, myelmeningeocele is a birth defect where the fetus’s spine does not close properly during the first month of development. Andy also has Arnold-Chiari malformation which affects the area where the spinal cord and brain come together. Andy’s brain protrudes into his spinal column, he also has hydrocephalus. He’s being fed through a breathing tube every 4 hours through his stomach. Andy is a trooper through it all!! Della Ann has her own share of medical problems also but at no point in time does she put herself in front of Andy. The ice storms have caused problems for the family. They are all huddled into one room where they have a heater and generator. The generator is what is keeping Andy alive through the power outage. They are spending $4 just on gas alone to keep the generator going. The kids have been told that because of the power outage and having to pay so much for gas that there would be no Christmas this year. Thank you MTBB for donating $180 to this beautiful family to help them through the hard times and bring a little Christmas joy to their home.
Nick Allegro:
Thanks for your concern and sympathy...
For those of you who don't know, my Mother, Christine, passed away this past Tuesday morning (Dec 11, 2007).
For those of you who did know, and sent their well wishes and sympathy, thank you very much. It's nice to know there are people out there who care, especially this time of year when the Spirit of the Christmas (that's right... I said CHRISTMAS!!) Season sometimes gets lost, and the priority of giving and getting get blurred.
May God bless you all, and may your Christmas be wonderful, blessed, and politically incorrect.
Sincerely,
Nick
